  • Curriculum

Our curriculum follows a four year rolling programme in Key Stage 2 and a two year rolling programme in Key Stage 1. Our long-term plan is an outline of the topics we will be covering in school in each term.  Topics are, however, always subject to change, to take into account the needs of the learners and/or to link with special events e.g. the Olympics or the Queen’s birthday.  The science topics covered each term are the same in both classes and all areas of mathematics are covered in each class in every term.  We give children opportunities to apply skills learned in English and mathematics in other subjects so that the learning is purposeful and engaging.  In order to enhance the curriculum the children have lots of opportunities to take part in visits so that their learning is rooted in real experiences and residential visits.

    Phonics.

Children in Key Stage 1 have a daily phonics session.  We use the Twinkl Phonics program.  Children have the opportunity to practise reading and writing each day, where they apply their phonic knowledge.

We have a curriculum evening every year to go through the pronunciation of phonemes with parents and to inform them how we teach reading.

Curriculum Plan - currently teaching year B in Key Stage 1 and year B2 in Key Stage 2
